2009 Kenya National IGF

The 2009 Kenya national IGF meeting was held on the 19th of August 2009. The forum was organised by the Kenya Network Information Centre and the Kenya ICT Action Network (KICTANet) and attracted about 40 participants. The forum was graced by the presence of Hon. (Eng.) James Rege, MP, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Communications and Information, who delivered the keynote address, and Hon. (Eng.) Philip Okundi, Chair of the CCK Board, among others.

 

Some of the issues discussed include:

  • The input from the Kenya Online Internet Governance Discussions report;
  • Access to Broadband;
  • Cyber security, trust and privacy;
  • Legal and Regulatory Issues;
  • Critical Internet Resources;
  • Consumer Issues;
  • The continuation/future of the global IGF; and,
  • The Nairobi ICANN Meeting in March 2010.
